RAC | United Kingdom

Punctures without a spare are becoming increasingly common. RAC saw an 84% increase in these calls in just a few years as more vehicles are delivered without a factory spare. Their solution was simple: fit a universal spare wheel and get the driver moving again in minutes, without a tow.

Problem

RAC patrol technicians needed a reliable way to get drivers moving again without relying on flatbed recovery.

Solution

EZ Universal Spare Wheels became standard equipment across all 1,700 RAC patrol vans.

Result

Hundreds of thousands of deployments since 2014, with 229+ days of downtime saved per year.

STELLANTIS | THE NETHERLANDS

Moving a damaged or immobilised vehicle through the workshop should be simple. In practice, it is not always that easy. A bent hub, missing wheel or an EV with electronic brakes that will not release can quickly turn a simple move into a two person job. At Stellantis, the EZ Roller Spinner gives our technicians a simpler way to handle these situations. It mounts using the vehicle’s own hardware and allows one person to move the vehicle into position without a dolly or dragging it across the workshop floor. The EZ Roller Spinner is now used across Stellantis dealerships in the Netherlands and supports multiple brands, including Jeep, Peugeot, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Dodge. One solution that works across the workshop.

Problem

Moving damaged and immobilised vehicles could require a dolly, additional equipment and two technicians. This was especially challenging with damaged wheels and EVs where the electronic brakes could not be released.

Solution

The EZ Roller Spinner gives our technicians a quick and practical way to move vehicles that cannot roll. It uses the vehicle’s own mounting hardware and can be installed and operated by one person.

Result

simpler way to move damaged and immobilised vehicles through the workshop, with less equipment and less time spent getting the vehicle into position.

BMW | Group

Keeping our customers mobile is an important part of our service. Across our dealer and roadside assistance network, we need to support a wide range of BMW models, each with different spare wheel requirements. To simplify this, BMW uses the EZ Universal Spare in 17", 18" and 20" sizes. Combined with the appropriate EFS system, this allows us to cover a wide range of applications with significantly fewer spare wheels in stock. Our previous program required 19 different spare wheels to cover the full range. We have been able to reduce this to just 4 EZ Universal Spares. Fewer spare wheels to stock and manage. Less storage required. Lower inventory costs. And a simpler way for our teams to provide the right solution when our customers need it.

Problem

Supporting a wide range of vehicle models meant managing multiple spare wheel types across our network. This increased storage requirements, tied up inventory and made stock management more complex for dealers and roadside assistance teams.

Solution

We standardised our spare wheel programme around the EZ Universal Spare in 17", 18" and 20" sizes, using EFS system to cover a wide range of BMW models.

Result

Less inventory and lower storage costs, with a simpler programme for our dealers and roadside teams. Most importantly, the right spare is available when customers need it, helping us keep them mobile and deliver a better service experience.

Vehicles have changed. The way we move them hasn’t. More cars are hitting the road without a spare. EVs add complexity. But the tools and workflows used to move disabled vehicles are still built for a different time.
